checkers board...
This was created for my first year of university anticultural project where we had to create a piece of outdoor artwork which incorporated at least 1 living/growing element and had therapeutic properties. I created this huge checkers board from old recycled pallets. The board was old pallets I took apart and restructured with a large piece of wood for the base, I then had a tiling workshop from my dads friend who builds kitchens to learn how to tile . For the living element I created two wooden planters as a boarder that can be easily moved for accessibility. The counters were made from Eco bricks from used plastic bottles I gave to friends and family to fill with plastic rubbish. The piece was aimed at children to encourage play, especially outdoor play to improve wellbeing.
